Crafting! (consumables)

This is still a few months down the road, but its worth thinking about early (right? right!). I don't want to think about full fledged crafting right now (such systems end up being giant bug-ridden monstrosities that take sooo much time to get working just right), but being able to craft wands/potions/scrolls/ammunition/alchemical thingimajigs seems like an important "self sustaining" ability for the adventuring life.

Anyway, the question is, what seems like the most intuitive/fair system to people? For instance, should crafting require only gold? Gold plus some item component? PnP-like exp requirements? (no, I don't see that last one being popular)

What about presentation? Options in a conversation? A shiny GUI menu? A set of recipes that you "use" on a placeable containing your ingrediants (i.e. Sigil system)? For wands, potions, and scrolls, this is somewhat limited since a spell has to be cast at some point, but its relevant for other miscellaneous items.

I'm for gold + a component. Granted, this isn't a PW where materials will be available so easily, but that makes crafted stuff a little more special than just "yay, item with specific stats".

Well "consumable" items by definition are made in bulk, so their components have to be relatively easily accessible. Some might require a small expedition to another plane, though, just to give people a reason to go places.

I'm a traditionalist forgive me. It makes the Items that more valuable and helps reduce flooding of a market. though we are a small group I doubt that would be an issue. as there really isn't a market to really destroy thus far.

Does that mean you're pro-exp expense, Emiryn?

Yes Mimi, It would mean I'm for the Experience Expense for crafting Items. as I previously stated, It would make the Items that much more valuable.
